Do not place or store appliance where it can fall or be pulled into a tub or sink.Always unplug appliance immediately after using.Outside of that, it really does work great and I still like it. I'm afraid to keep trying to force it as I don't want to break it. I expected there to be a button or trigger of some kind, but there isn't. Also, there is no obvious way to 'collapse' the dryer down into it's original in-the-box compact shape. The retracting feature is why I bought it which is why I rate this at, at best, a three. It did retract completely the first few times and now - after only having this for a month or so and using it only a couple of times a week - it only retracts about half. While it is a little lighter in weight and quieter in sound (both appreciated), the cord does not retract well at all.

Considering how much I liked the product, I was happy to find it again and order a replacement. Would try a different electrical socket and it would work, then it stopped altogether). You get what you pay for at a discount price! I would not purchase this product again and I would not recommend it to friends or family.įrustrating and Disappointed I've owned this model of Con-Air for a number of years and it very recently started having issues (would not reliably start. I gave the product 3 stars because the cord does partially retract, the handle does fold, and it is compact.all as advertised. Instead I have to hold it far from my hair so as to be sure not to burn.increasing my dry time substantially. The heat opening is just slightly smaller than the Conair dryer that I replaced so, unfortunately, I am not able to reuse the old concentrator nozzle on this new machine. This model doesn't come with a concentrator nozzle, yet, the heat apparatus is as close to the opening as it was on my old Conair hair dryer. The fold out handle is so tough to unfold that it feels like the flimsy plastic housing is about to break everytime I do so. Although the cord was tightly in when first received, it has never fully retracted since then. Room For Improvement The retractable cord feature has never worked properly since the day I first used it. The new Cord Keeper seems to be only slightly different but still the same basic design that works. That apparently had a lot to do with the 15 year use. Heat is the enemy of any electric device and the purpose is to not let the high heat of the elements stay inside the dryer to "cook" the internal parts as it cools down after use. I always press the cool button until the air coming out is cooler. One habit we initiated was to never shut it off hot. Assuming an internal thermal protector fuse finally opened up.

The ancillary pieces need to be stronger but the overall performance warranted us purchasing a new one when a few weeks ago in the middle of drying my hair it quit and never worked again. Though the original GFI plug burned out when the cord next to it shorted, I replaced with a heavy standard plug and last year the original rubber cord shorted out and I replaced it with 15 amp twin conductor cord and the recoil mechanism was not usable any longer and the folding handle mechanism broke a few years ago, the basic functionality of the dryer has been exceptional. Dependable Purchased our second Cord Keeper.
